Might help to do a search here on this site and find out about Largemouth fishing here . I been hooking them since march this year but not in the places mentioned . Pineview has more smallies but some greenies are there , along with Jordanelle too . They are there just need to get out and find them . Do you jig fish ? I just switched last year from trout to bass and have had a blast learning .I jig most of the time . I keep hearing about Mantua , but I have never fished it . Newton had some nice bass in it but last years fish die off didn't help that fishery . Good luck on the bass .

Hi- I have been trying off and on for a month to find a good bass fishing hole and not had much luck so far. Mantua can be good but I haven't had much luck there this year myself. You have to aware of the artificial lures only restrictions. Hyrum, Newton, and Willard all have bass, but Newton is still really low and not very good this year. Hyrum is full of water, and people are fishing for bass in the shallow inlet end. The state park charges a $5.00 per vehicle entry fee to launch a boat at the park marina. The best reports seem to be coming from Willard, but it can be pretty fickle too. I haven't fished Pineview for bass yet. I keep trying for the bass in hopes one day I will really get into them. I guess you can say I am addicted to it. Lots of luck wherever you try. Acey

First off, bass season hasn't started yet. With the drought the last couple years, we've had some very early bass fishing. Normally, Powell starts everything in march(it was on time this year). Next, comes the St George area lakes(Gunlock, Sand Hollow, Quail Creek...) in early to mid April. Utah Lake comes up about the end of April. Then, comes Deer Creek (mid may 15th) and Jordanelle memorial weekend/1st of june. Flaminge Gorge is on or around june 1st to free fishing day(2nd saturday in june). Mantua because it is shallow can start as early as mid april. Pelican can start mid april too(the basin has more consistant weather). Hyrum and Newton I have no clue(you need to talk to a local up there)

In Idaho, the Snake River impoundments start in mid to late march. There are some big tournments on the Snake near Boise before april.

California and Florida, is fished year round[Wink].

[red]Welcome MrTwisted,[/red]

[#ff0000]Hey I caught more LMB's at Hyrum trolling for trout than I did trout at Hyrum last year. It will be interesting to see what warmer water brings this year. Put Mantua on your list, Newton if it ever fills back up with water. As long as you are trying new things don't forget the smallies at Willard and the Gorge. Cheers! [/#ff0000]

Hey Tomegun,

I am really impressed! You obviously know about the bass. Thanks for the information. I am trying to become a better bass fisherman!

I am surprised no one mentioned cutler!

Cutler is a great place to bass fish as well.

I dont believe I saw deer creek in there either.

What about the local ponds? Kaysville ponds hold bass.

There tons of largemouth in, oh crap, whats its name up there by valley view golf course? Holmes creek! thats it.

Basically, theres lots of places in northern utah, in the entire state in fact, from the east at starvation, pelican, and many others, to the north, and south. The entire state has some great bass fishing.
