Snake River (Below Swan Falls)

Fair

This warmwater fishery is really starting to pickup with warmer temperatures. Also the river is really looking like it is clearing up. If you have never caught a smallmouth on a fly rod you are missing out They are are a great fighter on trout equipment. There is also a good chance to catch a catfish or two so hold on tight. Be careful because wading down there can be a little dangerous due to big, slippery rocks and unexpected holes. The water is not crystal clear so you can't always see where you are putting your feet. I suggest carrying a wading staff to find your way around the river bottom.

Flies: Stayner Ducktail, sz. 8-6; Crawdad patterns, sz. 6-2; Clowser Minnow, sz. 8-4; Woolly Buggers in brown, olive, and white, sz. 8-4; Yellow Marabou Muddlers, sz. 4; Zonkers in white, black, and olive, sz. 6-4
