Captain dave Hanson of Fishbuster Charters fished offshore from New Pass and in central Estero Bay in Naples this week, as well as at the artificial reefs off Bonita Beach, using live shrimp and light tackle. Our clients caught keeper mangrove snapper, keeper triggerfish, permit, spadefish, catch-and-release gag and red grouper, jack cravalle to 7 lbs., blue runner, barracuda, Spanish mackerel to 25 inches, kingfish to 28 inches, black drum, whiting, and silver trout. Clients included the following parties: Norman Milley, Bruce Fergusson, Lenny Klim, Andrew Combs, and Jack Roach. The Klim party had lots of excitement on their trip: First, a huge barracuda decided to dine on a blue runner being reeled in, barely missing the Captain's chest--Fortunately, the cuda's lip caught on the gunnel, sparing the Captain! Then, when we started the engine, we apparently spooked an approximate 30 lb. tarpon, which also jumped, missing the side of the boat by mere inches!
