Tibble Fork?
#1
Taking the kids and Mrs to tibble fork for the day tommarow. I have never fished this lake, but have read the post about water quality. I get conflicting info. Some say it is safe to eat the fish, and others say you should limit consumpsion. Anyone have the real scoop on this lake? Also has anyone fished this lake latley? What are the best baits, line rigging? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Aquaman is correct on the fish consumption. Children and women who are or can become pregnant should not eat the browns or brooks from any part of American Fork Canyon, bows can be eaten by everyone or so I was told by a warden up there last year.

I've had success this year fishing the north side floating salmon eggs about 1-2' below a bobber, also had some early year success using silver and gold kastmasters around the lower inlet.

My best advice I can give about Tibble Fork is to skip it and go to Silver Lake Flats. There are less people and just as good if not better fishing. It is also a stocked lake and so you will get into a bunch of planters but I have found the fish from Silver Lake Flats have a chance to grow a little bit bigger than they do in Tibble Fork. I like to sit on the east side under the pine trees and throw a pink triple teaser or worms or power bait. It is an awesome place to take kids and it is beautiful country.

Actually, on second thought, it is an awful place and you should avoid it at all costs. [Wink][Wink][Wink]It can get crowded and I hate to see it more crowded but since I don't get up there as much as I used to I think I can share for a little while.

Good Luck, I hope the kids knock em dead.

Btw.. Those suggestion about the consumption of fish pertain to the mine tailing piles up around Marry Ellen gulch and higher that filter into the water. Its said there is heavy lead and mercury content in the fishies because of it. And I'm sure thats a fact. Funny thing tho', we never heard we shouldnt eat the deer and Elk that drink from that stream daily. I wonder why that is?[crazy]
