Silver lake 7-13
#1
Haven't had the chance to get on a computer so this is a bit late. We were going to stop at tibble fork today but as soon as we saw all the people we kept driving and went to silver lake. What a beautiful place. We had a lot of fun. The fishing was kinda slow but fast enough to keep the kids busy. It was just a great day to be out of the valley. My daughter did pull in someones line that had a brookie hooked on the end. It had been hooked for some time and had its throat hanging out of its mouth with the hook still in it.(thought it was a big worm at first) So that went on the stringer along with a few other planters. Will make for some good smoked trout. Most fish were caught on salmon eggs. Can't wait to go back.

Good report. Where did you fish. I havent been there in years but where the stream enters the lake has always been a fairly good spot. Any size to the Brookies?

Thanks for the report. My wife and I are headed up to camp about a half mile up the dirt road by Tibble Fork today. We will be there through Sunday afternoon. To get to Silver Lake and Silver Lake Flats, do you just take the paved road that goes to the left when you pass Tibble Fork? How far from Tibble Fork is Silver Lake and Silver Lake Flats? Which would you recommend between the lake or flats? I'm just trying to figure out the best one for fishing and how to fish it. How big are the lakes up there? Tibble is always so packed, so I thought heading up farther would be a good idea.

Yes you do hang to the left at tibble fork. I believe the sign said it was 3 miles up the dirt road. This road is pretty rocky, and bumpy. I wouldn't recomend taking a car up this road. Althought there were a few up there. I wouldn't take mine. We fished about the middle of the lake, theres a good pull out off the main road. The brookie was about 10" and a couple of the rainbows were 12" most in the 8" range. There were a few people there, nothing like tibble though. Hope you have a good trip, and good luck.
