With the dog days of summer setting in, it's just too darn hot to be fishing all day...LOL. So, I've taken up a new hobby: chasing flatheads. So far no luck, but I'm slowly learning some great tips. tpet96 I can relate to that, at 4 am in the morn too hot to sleep I wint out looken for one of them wiskered fellers myself and all I could come up with was a 10 pound snapper. so I will have turtle for dinner to night. dont get smitten by them kittens, cause theyr out there. Well ive never caught a turtle on the salted livers, thats a new one. How do you prepare or even clean and prep a turtle? thanks in advance. Happy Hookin Gamaktsu <*(((>{

Gamakatsu You are missing out on a delicacy for sure Turtle on the open market the last time I checked was around $40 a pound. * To cook a turtle there are as many recipes as there are recipes for fish and game and shrimp all put together. In other words you can substitute turtle in just about any recipe that calls for clam – oyster – rabbit – chicken – cow - fish - pork. This makes turtle highly desirable to chefs a round the world. But my friend you and I can forget about going out and getting a turtle dinner unless your name is Rockefellers. * For Some of your recipes, you may have to par boil (pressure cooking because if rapidly cooked turtle will turn tough) before using in your favorite dish, such as shrimp salads and cocktails – shish kabobs – southern fried chicken or steaks – use your imagination. The myth of turtle having seven flavors is true (meaning that turtle can be substituted for seven different meats) (To start with if you cannot process a deer do not attempt this) I do not want to post this information over the net but I will tell you this; * This requires the same techniques as skinning a deer.
