Fishing continued to be somewhat slow but a few rainbow trout that averaged 11 inches were taken using PowerBait and night crawlers.
A few largemouth bass were reportedly taken with crank baits and small spinners. The upper end of the reservoir is still a little murky and some weed growth is forming.

Ben Johnson from Nevada State Parks rated fishing as fair; however, some stocked rainbow trout that averaged 11 inches were taken with PowerBait and lures. Hand-size crappies were also taken with gigs. The water level is low but it has had a negligible affect on the fishing.
Striped bass that weigh up to 5 pounds are being caught by boaters who are catching the fish in the Boulder Basin with top water and shallow-running lures, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW).
Good action for stripers has been found recently in open water outside of Government Wash and in open water around Swallow Bay and Black Island. Outside the tires at Lake Mead Marina has been producing sporadic success for stripers.
Anglers who have been fishing from shore for stripers continue to have very little luck. Channel catfish are being caught from shore with the best action coming around sunrise and sunset.
Boaters continue to report to NDOW that they are having good results for smallmouth bass around the islands outside of Echo Bay Marina. Stripers are being caught in that area as well.

Anglers reported good success for rainbow trout following the U.S. Fish and Wildlife stocking at Willow Beach. The fish averaged 12 inches and were taken with PowerBait and spoons.
Boaters were also successful landing striped bass. One striper weighed in at 25 pounds, but most were in the 1 – 3 pound range. The fish were taken while trolling with large lures.
Several catfish that ranged from 14 – 20 inches were taken with anchovies. The best time was the early mornings. Willow Beach is scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout on Friday (8/20/04).
Fishing pressure continued to be low at Cottonwood Cove. A few small stripers that averaged 12 inches were reportedly taken.

Daniel Maes, Assistant Area Manager, said that fishing success dropped from the previous week and is rated as fair. Temperature swings from the high 90’s to the low 40’s seem to be affecting the fish. Some rainbow trout that averaged 11 inches were taken in both Haymeadow and Cold Springs reservoirs. The fish were taken with PowerBait and artificial worms.
The north end of the Adams – McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs are now open for fishing.

Anglers reported a slight slow down in success for channel catfish at Lorenzi Park, Floyd Lamb State Park, Sunset Park in Las Vegas and Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City, but some fish were caught with an assortment of baits.

yah im back from illinois, and i havent done much fishing anywheres this summer, and i dont know why people havent taken to this board. They lurk but don't join in, theres more posts about lake mead on another website's calf board than we have, also guides could post reports and pictures and get free advertising, but they don't, and they've all been invited numerous times, its frustrating
