Im looking to go fishing this weekend and i have wanted to get a cat for a long time Ive only caught 1 and that was when i was 6 so i dont remember it. but i'm looking for a spot about within an hour of salt lake city where it fairly good catfishing that but hopefully wont be to crowded odds of that obviously not very good but hey its worth a try. any help is appreciated

Hi Sam,
If you want good action for big channel cats, you're best bet in Utah is definitely Utah Lake. You could go to Lincoln Beach, Lindon Boat Harbor, the bubble-up or American Fork Boat Harbor. They all produce well. Carp meat or worms should do the trick. I like to cast them out on a size 2/0 hook with no weight and let them settle lightly on the bottom. Sometimes it's better at dusk, or at night, and sometimes it's better in the morning. But you should be able to pull in at least a couple, plus a bunch of mudcats too.

I had good luck at willard for them last sat.I used a worm on the bottom and i had casted out about 30 feet out. Hope this helps.
