Herring Fishermen catching baby Haddock.
#1
The Maine marine patrol visited two trawlers out of that state and found up to 4.5 percent of the catch was baby Haddock. The good news is that this is the first time these many frie have been caught. It would appear that the Haddock stock is improving, but ways to not have the Herring fishermen catch so much bycatch. This may include banning them from certain areas of the Gran Banks. Even though it is a federal offense to have only one under sized Haddock the boats got off with a warning.
