Hello Fellow Anglers,
My name is Paul, and I fish as often as possible up here in the Great State of Maine. They call this State the Vacationland State, maybe because so many come here for their vacations. I came here from Connecticut a long time ago, almost 16 years ago, and I haven't left yet.
Anyhow, on to the fishing. It's been a crazy summer for me. In between Kidney Dialysis treatments, a stay in the hospital, due to complications, and my previous PC dying a sudden death, I am back on the net, and more importantly, back to fishing. For saltwater anglers, mackereal have been plentiful along the shores and in the bays and the mouth of rivers, especially the Kennebec River. Where there is mackeral, there are also Stripers, and they have been plentiful, both along the shores and in the rivers, namely the Saco River, The Presumpscot, The Royal River, The Kennebec, etc. They have been taking whole and chunk mackeral, as well as Alewives (Herring Family), Eels, and Bloodworms. Now that Summer is in full swing, they are now resorting to their summer haunts, and going deep. In the very early morning just around dawn or early evening around sunset, you can nail them with topwaters, such as Rapala's , Chug Bugs, etc. Otherwise, you have to go deeper to nail the elusive Striper. The Maine Marine Fisheries Dept. is doing a great job in improving Maine's Fisheries, as attested to by the catches, both inshore and offshore.
For more info on Fishing in Maine, Check out these sites:

http://www.state.me.us/dmr/
http://outdoors.mainetoday.com/fishing/
http://www.state.me.us/dmr/recreational/saltwaterfishing.htm

"Striper Maine-iac"
