I just received an email from the US Forest Service that the Large Woody Debris project on the Manistee River and Au Sable river will take place this month.
There is a closure order in effect from 9/7 through 9/30 for Manistee National Forest [Hodenpyl] and Huron National Forest [Mio trophy water]. They will be airlifting in trees for these areas and no float trips will be allowed - commercial or otherwise.
I'm told the airlifts for Hodenpyl will be 9/14-15 and Mio will be the 16th through the 20th. Before you venture out check with the Ranger stations to confirm that the river section is open.
