Lake Mead Live Bait Fishing
#1
Thursday 11/11/04 - Hit the water early (5:30 a.m.) Headed to Las Vegas Wash to net live shad. Cold early morning boat ride! Three boats in my favorite shad spot. I guess it's a lot of fisherman's favorite shad spot. Filled the live well quickly, and started drifting near the enterance to Las Vegas Wash. Focused on fishing in 35-55' of water. Action was pretty steady for the two and a half hours of drift fishing. When we were ready to head in, we counted 10 nice stripers in the ice chest. One about four pounds! We had released several smaller stripers and a few skinny ones. The Wash area had about twenty boats in it and everyone seemed to be catching a few fish. I talked to a nice guy in a 19' Nitro bay boat that was fishing at anchor, with cut bait, who was successful in landing as many fish as we did. He was fishing with two poles, and chumming. On the way back to the ramp we encountered a little chop, not bad, just enough to make us slow down to avoid spray from making us wish we had stayed at home. What a great morning on the water! I can't wait until tomorow when I get to do it again.

[size 2] [font "comic sans ms"] Thanks for the report. I need to get out finshing more often. Now that my work schedule has opened up a little more I just may just have to do that (fish more).
Take care,
David

I'm ready! I've got the time, now that football is over. Can I bring Capt. Don?
