Island Park Res. - Icefishing
#1
Just moving Bill's post so more people can see it.

[size 1]I ice fished Island Park Reservoir on Saturday and caught five fish with the largest a 21 inch rainbow. All were rainbows. Several people walked out and visited me about kokanee, but I did not get into any.

The ice near the dam is 3 to 4 inches thick with more freezing nightly. Saturday night it dropped to -2 degrees which will make the ice deeper quick. Be very careful as there were still a patch of open water just above the dam. The reservoir froze over on Thanksgiving weekend.

Good luck,

Bill,
What were you using and how were you fishing it? Thanks for the info. Everet

I was fishing near the dam about 15 feet down with a chartruese ice fly tipped with a meal worm. In Idaho we can set out five lines, so I usually set out three set lines with jigs with different bait on them and at depths from 8 to 20 feet and then two jig rods with jigs tipped with mealworms.

I am planning on hitting Island Park again on Saturday. I will keep you posted.
