Salmon River winter steelhead
#1
This last week of the year has been the best steelhead fishing since April. The Salmon River is running low- 335cfs. We have had consistent action from top to bottom. Egg sacks and plugs are working well. The weather has improved and it is supposed to stay nice for another week or so. The ice is all but gone off the river so access is pretty easy. January is looking really good. Early this week I took the first trip in the new giant drifter, lets just say it floats awesome. This 19 ft. Fish-rite is the most stable and super comfortable driftboat I have ever rowed. It was an action packed trip- we connected with at least a dozen steelhead and land eight- what a maiden voyage to remember.
