Weber on New Years Eve
#1
It the Weber on New Year's Eve around Taggart. The water is low and clear and the whitefished are stacked to the gills in the deep runs. I caught three in two hours, 1 12" brown and two whitefish one 14 inches and one 20 inches about three pounds. I know whitefish aren't as fun, but nothing else was hitting. I was using a scud and beadhead pheasant tail (caught all the fish in the BHPT). We did see a couple of large fish (estimated 18-20 inches) rising and I assumed it was on the midges. Good day, but I want to get into the trout more.

I haven't fished the Weber much (I ususally hit the south fork of the ogden) and was looking for hints on flies and loacations. If you have patterns that would be great so I can tie some up. Any help is appreciated.

I always use prince nymphs and brassies in the winter. Wooly buggers can move some surprisingly large fish as well sometimes. Good luck. Experiment and see what patterns work the best for you.
