headed to the berry sunday with the new wheeler and 2 buddies. went to the soldier creek side where you turn of to go to the damn and fished down below the rest rooms which were opened by the way. we spent the whole day to limit out on rainbows for the smoker. used rat finkies, tube jigs and ice flies tipped with waxies and mealies and power bait seemed to be the trick when things got slow. one 3.5 lb 19 in. football. one cutt in the slot.
saw a streaking snowmobiler fly by early in the morning while it was still very cold. looked like he came from the cabins and made a long run by all the fishers. I'll bet his extremeties were froze to the bone.
great fishing to you all!!!

hey G2F...
thanks for the update- I was just wondering how the ice/snow conditions were on the solder creek side? I guess thick enough to support a sledder minus his clothing...[crazy]
also approx how deep was the water where you had the best action?
thanks for the info...PB

Ice was about 14" and couple of inches of packed snow. its was extremely cold ecept for a couple of hours in the afternoon. there is no slush and we fished in 15 to 20 feet of water on the bottom for rainbows. people fishing deeper water and up and down the column seemed to be catching cutts.
Good fishing to YA!!!

[cool]Thanks for the report! I think I'm headed to S.C. tomorrow. It doesn't seem to get as much pressure as CCE and the marina, and those of us that are snowmobile and 4wheeler challenged, there's only so many places you can get to. Think I'll hike out a little further than where everyone else has been fishing and see what happens! Good luck next trip out!

Was there any open water out towards the dam? I've heard reports that it was still open out away from the bays.
Thanks

as far as I could see there was no open water. 2 weeks ago there was either open water or newly frozen ice out toward the damn. Alot less pressure at SC.

Great report. I've not been over there in the winter so is there any place on the sc side to fish if you don't have a machine to get you there?

There is a parking lot right where the road to the dam takes off from Hiway 40. One can park there and walk down the old road a short distance, and there is a trail to the ice there.
