Flaming Gorge

[] Had a fantastic day at the Gorge last Wednesday. Landed 7 macks, had 4 others on that got off and even had several more missed bites. The smallest was 14 pounds and the biggest was 31 pounds. The day was beautiful. By early afternoon was in a lightweight long sleeve T-shirt. This can be one of the most productive times of the year. Usually the weather is nasty. If you are prepared, it can be rewarding. There are usually not too many other boats. Macks are very sensitive to fishing and boat pressure at the Gorge. Anyway, I still have the bug. Depending on the weather, may be back up there Saturday.

Dang I need to get someone to teach me how to fish for macks and how to fish that lake!!!
My dad retires this Thurs. and I would love to drag him up there a few times this year, but I don't think I can get the boat going until spring.

You know me. I get too bored trolling. Gotta be doing something. I always jig up there. Light gear and jigs. This Fall has been a little weird. The old faithful usual patterns aren't the norm this year. Maybe things will start to settle in now. I'll see if it was a fluke on Saturday when I go back. Will post next week.

Sorry, now I recognize who gofish is, I know you although we have never met. I have saved your FG emails that you sent to me back in 2003. In a few days (yes days!) I will have my boat rigged up with my new Minn Kota (Bow mounted, 24 volt system, 74 pounds of thrust, AutoPilot and CoPilot, Universal sonar, and perhaps a new fishfinder) so maybe I will be able to catch my first mack of 10 pounds -- I realize that is just a pup, but a guy must start somewhere. And like you, if I can catch him vertical jigging that would be just that much more fun. Pretty I know, but hey a guy has to start somewhere.
