About time! I was beginning to wonder if the yuppies kidnapped that from us as well....
I say leave the racing on the track. if they want to drag race they can go down to miland, they want too go a hundred miles they can go to Irish hills and if the want to do motor cross there are hundred thousands of miles of trails here in Michigan.
It will be nice to hear the fishing industry get a boost.
I can pretty much guess why they are going to target the anglers again, its the anglers who are steady Freddie’s. Snow mobile sails are way down do to several factors, from lack of snow to economy crunches to alternate orv's.
That certainly is good news, thanks for sharing...

I fully agree....

They never did much advertising of their own; they relied on sportsman shows to promote their project. And since we have lost most of our promoters, due to age and early passing, no one covers it much.
You are right the first weekend of tip up town went by before I remembered it was going on, but nope! Not a word from Fred Trost to remind us last Thursday on neither his show nor the Michigan outdoors shows.
I wonder why they did not cover it. But the second half is this weekend for those who missed out.
I went through there last fall, and you thought they would be promoting it from October though December while the deer hunters was there. I mean it only makes since... I did not see any thing about it when I pass through town, nor could I find me a badge while I was there either...
any one know what the top badge prize is this year?

I DROVE PAST THERE LAST FRIDAY , SAW A COUPLE DOSEN SHANTYS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE LAKE JUST BEFORE 55 HEADS OFF TO THE SUNSET SIDE OF THE STATE .
OTHER THAN THAT NOT MUCH OUT THERE BUT SNOWMOBILERS .
I'M NOT SURE OF THE PRISES , BUT THERE WERE SOME ATV'S IN WALMART THAT WERE BEING GIVEN AWAY TO A LUCKY BADGE HOLDER .
BADGES WERE $5.00 THIS YEAR . I DIDN'T SEE ANY BEING OFFERED FOR SALE UNTILL THERE WAS ICE ON THE LAKE .

speaking of ATV's
I could sure use one! its a half mile from my house to my hole. and I have to walk it...
do your remember what kind they were?
I wanted to go ice fishing yesterday, but I couldnt, I had been putting off going to the laundry mat for about two weeks now. (hate when I run out of lucky fishing sox) However, I did stop by a lake on the way back and grabed my bynoc's and scoaped it out.
I saw about 25 road vehicals in the lot. no atv's on the lake. about a dozen shanties on the lake and I did see one walleye on the ice.
I knew I wanted to go fishing yesterday, even if I dont catch it, I still get excided seeing one caught.
Oh, did I mention I lost a pike the other day? had a big one on, he took 100' feet of line and I fought him for about half an hour before he finaly cut though my 40 pound test mono. then about another hour later I lost another one by mis-setting the hook! Most Pike action I've had on a single icefishing day in some time.
a buddy told me of a place to go right out side his house, I just picked out the spot I thought would be the best spot for him, cant wait till saturday, we have a fishing derby at his place, it is a memorial to Dave Pace of union lake. As most every one knows by now he passed this past summer of heart failure and he loved icefishing. so in his honor we are having a derby, biggest fish for $10.oo per person. half the money will be going to the heart foundation, the other half will be devided in to first, second and maybe third. there are going to be grills out on the lake for cooking. from what I hear it will be the biggest ice fishing bash of the year... and the best part is I already have my hole picked out!!!!
