Perch Party 1-29-05 Thanks Guys

We just got home from Rockport. What a great day!
The weather couldn't have been better and the perch were very cooperative. My son and I fished on the State Park side, about 500 yards North of the ramp. To my surprise my plank was still there for us to get out on the ice with.
There were not a lot of BFT folks by the ramp,most were over by the highway. We moved over there at about 11:30 to pick up my raffle prize.
I did learn one new thing today. PoloKid seems to limit on perch a lot and I now know his secret. When you are not looking, his dog steels your perch and takes them to him![] [] Just kidding.
It was fun meeting more BFTer's again today. Thanks to everyone that put this together. I know that you put a lot of time and money into it. I hope that you came out ok on the prizes. DKS.
PS; After we got home, my son gave his wife the tee shirt that we won. It is a size med. and didn't fit either of us. She laughed and asked if it was some kind of a joke. She said that there was a Booger on the back of it![angelic][]

[cool]It certainly was a great day on Rockport! We were on the highway side, so we didn't venture across. And didn't get in on the raffle either. But I listened in on channel 12 all morning long, and spoke with someone early on about what depth we were finding active fish. And we brought home a big mess of perch, already have them filleted and ready for Sunday dinner!
Hope the ice stays tight up there for a few more weeks!

I just finished filleting my perch for our fish fry tonight. My wife is making Crab Alfredo, and she is also making a killer batch of garlic & cheese biscuits to go with.

I didn't make it out there today. I got involved with helping somebody get moved, and it took a lot longer than I expected. I wish I could have been out there too.

The weather was good at Rockport today??? I woke up and it was raining here in Ogden. I logged onto ksl weather and it looked like more rain and snow was moving in so I bailed on the trip and went back to bed. I guess that what I get for believing those weather goons. Hope everyone enjoyed the day. I'll have to meet up with some of you on the next trip.

What can I say, my little girls first trip on frozen water and she had caught the first fish of the day, in fact she had two on the ice before I even had my rod in the water. Some of the bites were a little light but we sure ended up with mess of fish. I couldn't believe how many people were out on the ice. Everywhere you looked there was a group of people pulling perchies through the ice. It was great to see some of the gang again and to get to meet mikes family. As it is with just about every trip I got to meet a few new BFTers. It was so much fun seeing my little fishing buddy knock em dead. We even finished off the day with a little sledding and even a snowmobile ride.

Well I would have liked to join you but if it could go wrong today it did. Thought everything was going to be good when I first got there and got on to the ice. Then when I started lookin around I didn't see any bft, So i figured i must have stopped at the wrong turn out. I went to get my radio out of my sled to see if I could get ant bft'ers to find out where to go and i realized I left it at home on the counter. The wife decided we should just fish where we were, so we did. Caught about 15 nice perch and 1 16" trout in about 45 mins when my son decided to find a hidden Ice hole with his leg, all the way to the croch. As my wife was trying to dry him off in the tent my daughter not looking where she was walking decided to do the same thing. That was it time to go home. An hour drive up 45 minutes of fishing and an hour drive home with cranky kids. What fun!! Hopefully me and friend are going up tommorrow to redeem the day, but it sounds like the rest of you had a good time. thats great!!!!

I had fun even thou my little guys were a hand full. Thay just didn't seem into fishing yesterday. oh thanks for the prizes from hooked and for putting on the party.
I can't beleive how many people were on the ice i have never seen that many people at rockport even in the summer WOW
there sure seemed to be alot of perch in that lake but i bet after this year or weekend those numbers drop big time.
i am thinking about doing it again next week.

Thanks everyone for showing up!!! Even though it was a abridged version of what we originally had planned, it was still a good time. I have to thank everyone who came out. And fishing was alot better this year than last!!!

Well, I made it up there, but much later than I'd hoped. Myself and 4 friends, and a couple of our kids pulled into Wanship just before 08:00. When we got to the second big turn off, there was little to no parking, so we went back to an area just north of where you fellers were at. I had every intention of venturing over to meet you guys but the perch were cooperating so well, it was hard to get too far from our holes. We had a great time on the ice regardless. Couldn't ask for better fishing and great weather to boot. We'll have to catch you guys another time.
