Quail Creek Next Week
#1
I will be in St. George next week and was interested in fishing at Quail Creek Reservoir[I think that is the reservoir just before St. George]. I will be spin casting from shore. What would be good lures to take for bass and trout? Any other information would also be greatly appreciated. Also would it be worth fly casting a sinking line from shore? Thanks, DKS.

I fish Quail an Sand an Gunlock a little, hear is some of what I know, they all fish about the same, If you are useing fly rod from sure it may be tuff I fish from a bass boat, I use sink-os with out weight wackey an regurlure (weedless) drop shot (MOJO) type weights an rockhopper type MOJO weight. I use MOJO becase they work the best all the time for me. Spinner bates work at sand hollow an gunlock better then quail, the bass start to spon about the middle of april, now they are in the prespon an in about 10 foot or less water, for your best fishing I would try sand hollow on the south an east sides but go weedless lots of brush. On quail the fish could be all around the lake but the best is along the north to northeast sure. I hope that you do C&R an have a camra along let us know how you do good luck[Wink]

Thanks for all your help everyone. I will give the spin casting tips a try. Bass fishing is new to me but we are getting more and more good bass waters in Utah. I say if you can't beat em join em. I look forward to learning more about how to fish for bass using my pontoon boat this year. This trip down South will be a good start for me, even from the shore.DKS

[green][size 2]Think big streamer patterns. Ya try some poppers. If you tie your own stuff, 3-6 inches in length as thick as you dare.
