2005 Natural Resources Photo Contest Gets Underway
#1
ANNAPOLIS – Attention Maryland photographers! The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now accepting entries for its exciting 2005 Maryland Natural Resource Photo Contest. Sponsored by Ritz Camera Centers and Boater’s World Marine Centers, the contest runs from April 15 until September 16.

Photographers of all ages can participate in a chance to win a share of $1,000 in prizes and a chance to have their outdoor images published in print and online. Winning entries will be featured in the winter issue of The Maryland Natural Resource magazine and the 2006 DNR Calendar. In addition, all entries will be considered as photographic resources for DNR Online, the department’s website frequented by over one and a half million website visitors in 2005. Photo credits will be given for any photographs used.

Photographs should be natural resources and/or outdoor recreational in theme and must have been taken in Maryland. Suggested categories are native wildlife and wild flora, scenic, pictorial, nature-based activities and outdoor recreation. Photographers may enter up to three entries for a $10 entry fee. Photos cannot be more than two years old or previously published. Non-residents may also participate as long as the photos were taken in Maryland.

“Through the lenses of the nature and outdoor photographers who participate in our contest, millions of people will get a glimpse of the beautiful landscapes and tremendous variety of resources found throughout Maryland,” DNR Secretary C. Ronald Franks. “We are very excited at the prospect of seeing what other people have captured in images.”

Official rules and contest entry forms are available at any Maryland Ritz Camera Center, Boater’s World Marine Center in Maryland, Maryland State Park or Welcome Center.
