Strawberry Memorial Day Weekend - Dang Theives!!!

Went to chase kokanee at Strawberry this weekend. I'd have been happy with catching a couple, but didn't catch even one. We used Shasta dodgers and lures and fished at every depth from 8ft to 50ft. Trolled near the dam and up and down the narrows. Any suggestions on the kokes? I know there is a large enough population in there that if someone knows thier stuff they ought to be able to get into them. I'm going to keep educating myself and fishing until I do.

Saturday afternoon we switched over to targeting trout and did quite well drift-fishing dead red-sided shiners. I got to see my first trout take the lure right at the side of the boat in plain sight, that was AWESOME! My wife caught a very fat 22" bow that we took home and we released all the cutthroat.

Oh, and I got a nice visit from a sticky-fingered friend. We were camped at Aspen Grove campground and Sunday morning I awoke to find the propeller on my electric trolling motor was gone and the wrench that did the dirty deed was lying on the ground right below it. Its a good thing I didn't catch them doing it or I would probably be in jail right now for bludgeoning the guy to death with his own dang wrench. Thieves make me so flipping . When they're caught, they ought not be put in jail, they should just hire some PI's to steal all their stuff for a few years . . . everytime they buy something . . . BOOM, its stolen!

I cannot figure how anyone dares risk it? Are they just so cocky and confident that they won't get caught? I know I sure wouldn't want to face an sportsman, who might well be packing, and who just caught me trying to steal his stuff!

Sad but true ... A friend of mine had his motor stolen off his boat while in a Smith's parking lot in broad daylight.

We just need to watch out for each other and keep what you can locked up it's very unfortunate that we as Angler's have to be on constant guard as we are just trying to enjoy the outdoor's.... I believe in a quote that I read on a friend of mines store wall that read's " anyone caught stealing will be shot and if still alive will be shot again!" As for the Kokanee on strawberry It is still a little early call me and I will give you some more precise area's and depth's to target them at. Sorry to hear about your prop...[]

Lazy P. Of S. Thieves. Worthless human beings with no conscience. I have everything locked down or stuck to my boat with liquid nails for that same reason. I had my prop stolen from my outboard last year at Willard, while I was cleaning my fish. At Pineview last year someone helped themself to my transom straps and bow tie downs. The 38 special that I carry with me everyday will come in handy when I catch one of these weasels taking my property.

Props are very expensive! And some are hard to find. It takes a low life to do something like that .Someone who has no morals and a bad upbringing.

Good luck finding the Kokes up there, I'm pretty sure they swim into the pipeline all year, only to be seen while spawning! Too bad about your prop though. I'd guess those that stole it would make good popgear.

Too bad about the prop, and don't feel like the Lone Ranger here! We had all of our gas stolen last fall, while deer hunting. They got away with about fifty gallons of gas. They could of at least braught the cans back! Those people must either be really brave, or really stupid, to even think about taking something during the deer hunt!
Good luck on the Kokes up at the berry, Iv'e only caught one up their, but I haven't spent any time searching for them.

Sorry about your miss fortune on the prop . How fast were you trolling for the Kokes ? I would try right in front of the marina or on the west side of Haws point for kokes right now . I always done better going slow . Under 2 MPH . It has been a few years since I've targeted them , but I use to hit them good in june and july . I used needlefish and wedding rings behind popgear or dodgers . Sometimes they like the red or the chartreuse . I never had a fish finder back then and still got on them . All I had was leaded line too and would be 3 to 6 colors out . Hope this helps some .

Fishhungry, that really sucks for you, and also for coldfooter about your gear getting ripped off. Stinken [#ff0000]DARN[/#ff0000] meth-addicts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![mad][mad] Your stuff is probably at a local pawn shop, and the culprits meth high from the sale has probably already worn off by now. Some peoples kids, I tell ya!![mad] It really sucks, man. You go OUT of the city to leave that kind of [#ff0000]stuff[/#ff0000] behind and enjoy the great outdoors, and then those types of idiots go up to the lakes too. Just [#ff0000]sends[/#ff0000] me right off.
