Willard Bay Canal?
#1
I am thinking of going up and catching some big channels. Does the canal hold any fish?

Are you talking about the canal that runs to the south of the bay itself, or the inlet channel? If you talking about the canal, there isn't much more than carp, a few muddies and chubs. I have never caught a channel out of there. Also, if you are looking for big channels, you probably want to go somewhere else. Most of the channels in Willard are pretty small. The DWR did a survey last year and found that most of the channels caught were 12 to 16 inches long, but 5 to 6 years old. They just aren't finding enough food to sustain growth during the latter part of the year. The shad and carp get too big for them later in the year and they don't have much else to feed on. Utah Lake or the Bear River are better bets for big cats.
