Leech Lake Action Plan Moves Forward
#1
WALKER, MN—Just 10 months after a pivotal public meeting in Walker, Minnesota, in which area residents and resort owners sought action to improve walleye fishing on Leech Lake, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Leech Lake Reservation Division of Resources Management (DRM) say they’re on schedule for implanting a four-part plan for improving the lake’s fishery.

Fisheries managers say the DNR is making progress in all four parts of the plan, which includes: special fishing regulations, experimental walleye stocking, cormorant control and habitat improvement.
