Launched from the N. Marina at 6:30 AM. Saw a lot of little minnows swimming in the weeds just to the west of the launch dock so made a few casts with a little plastic jig. Caught a wooper of a largemouth bass. Maybe two or three inches long. Glad to see they are still in there. Few years with good water levels and we might have a sizeable population of them again.

Proceeded to the south east dike and caught a 7 inch bluegill on my jig below a bubble. Also glad to see they have survived. Worked my way around the dike casting right into the rocks with my nightcrawler rigged mepps and caught 10 catfish ranging from 2 to 3 pounds.

Decided to see if I could find something on the north west dike so shot across the lake and casted my mepps rig, shad raps, and jigs into the water fnear the rocks. Had a couple of bites from crawler theives but that was it. Then came the wind and it was time to leave. Off the lake by noon. Water is considerably clearer on the north side of the lake. Didn't try any trolling.

I launched my toon from the south marina about 6:30 this morning as well and the morning started off pretty quick. Landed a small walleye on my second cast against the shore inside the marina. I let him go to apease the fish gods and was rewarded with two more larger walleyes spitting my hook inches from the net. Decided I would troll a little, even though I knew I could not generate the kind of speed needed to intice wipers. I drug a variety of crank baits. Even drug a few shallow diving stick baits behind bottom bouncers and was finally rewarded with my first ever wiper. Boy oh boy, what a hoot. I've herd a lot of people talk about the fight and I didn't doubt them, but you never really get it until you've caught one. I've never had a 20" fish pull so much drag before. It was definately worth the trip. I figured since I've never eaten wiper before I would invite him home for dinner. Didn't catch any catfish today, which was a little unusual for me; generally that is about all I catch at willard. Oh well I'll trade a bunch of 12" kitties for one 20" wiper any day.

What were you using when you caught the walleye? Did you catch them on the surface or were they down in deeper water of the rocks?

All of the walleye came throwing cranks at the shore inside of the marina.
