Any opinions of some of the proposed changes?
Here's a link.

I checked the link and it worked for me. If it still isn't working for you go to the Home Page of the F&G's website and you should be able to find the proposed changes from there.

Brian,

The proposed changes on Henrys Lake will kill it. If the lake freezes over in late October or early November the ice fishermen will be there by the hundreds. We all know where the fish will be and they will be slaughtered. By being able to fish all night, the fish around Staley Springs will be fished for 24 hours a day during the hot part of the summer. I really don't see a need to change the regs that has brought the fishery back from near death.

I don't think the change in regs for Henry's would significantly hurt but you have much more experience with the lake so I'll take you word for it. It sure is cold fishing Henry's on an early October morning. It would take some real die hards to be fishing Henry's from a boat in late November.
I would like to see the F&G add some slot limits on bass in American Falls Res as well as the Snake below the reservoir.

The lake generally freezes over from the last week of October to the middle of November. With most of the fish at the mouths of the streams, at the Hatchery and off Staley Springs, the ice fishermen would congregate there and it would be a slaughter.

The Fish and Game opened the lake in 1978 and 1979 during November and December. The following two years, 1980 and 1981 the fishermen averaged a fish for every 9 hours fished. This is why the they started closing it at 9 p.m. each day and closed it at the end of October. The lake is just on it's way back from the drought and here we go reinventing the wheel again.

I've only been in Idaho for about two years and I haven't even had a chance to fish Henry's. I've heard that bsflies is "the man" when it comes to henry's so I agree with him. It would be a shame for henry's to be fished out. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I agree with BSflies not just because he is correct but also because his desk is behind mine and I can't see him coming.[cool] J/K.

I think if it did freeze solid people would come a very long distance to pull that big of fish through the ice. I think it would be short lived fun. I hope they do not do it all the same.
