My dad and I fished Strawberry from 7-1 today and had a fantastic day. We got some good advice from the jigging jedi master MGB which was very helpful. (Thanks MGB). We fished around the ladders in 29-36 feet deep. We vertically jigged with tube jigs and for 3 hours had none stop action. We landed 40+ fish (after a while you loose track what number you are on). All were cutts and several pushing 21 inches but none bigger. 3 were under the slot (about 12 inches long). That is the most fish I have caught in 1 day ever (25+ myself). We had a great time with excellent weather and just a slight bit of W... to keep the heat off and make your jig do a little dance. Too much fun!

Glad to hear you had a great time and caught plenty of fish. That area has been excellent fishing for a couple months. We have landed over the slot cutts 6 out of 8 trips. Keep in touch and we will have to hook up.

Can you share some hints? I have tried jigging for them with very, very little success

Most important to find fish using the fish finder. We found them in 29-35 feet. Anchor over them and drop 2.5 inch tube jigs ( 1/8 oz heads) down to the bottom and then jig up about 1.5 feet and let it fall and then repeat. Sometimes dead stick it about 1 foot off the bottom. Tip it with half a nightcrawler or shiner and apply smelly jelly inside the tube. Set the hook quick to avoid deep hooking them.
