Walleye Seminar at Lindon 10-03-05
#1
[#0000ff]The next two months should produce some of the year’s best walleye fishing, both on Utah Lake and on Willard Bay. Several of the Utah BFTers have been planning an informal get together at Lindon Boat Harbor next Monday evening, at 6 PM, to discuss walleye fishing tactics and to show lures and rigs. [/#0000ff]
We will have several “experienced” walleye chasers there to download some of their secrets and to demonstrate techniques. That’s why we want to do it near the water.
For those who cannot attend, or who would rather read a bit before the gathering, here is a writeup I have put together, along with some pics of some of the colors that work best at this time of year, for both jig heads and plastics.
I don’t imagine that the session will last more than 1 ½ to 2 hours. I hope the weather is decent. Long range forecasts are typical for this time of year…”Fair and sunny with possible downpours.”

[shocked] Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah !!!!!!!! TubeDude ![unimpressed]

What have you done ?!?!?

I just read your attachment. You done went and gave away my onliest Utah Lake SECRET spot to the whole world !!! [mad]

Just kidding - I know it's not much of a secret - I've seen too many people(you're probably one of them) there over the years for it to be one really. Yeah, I'm talking Pelican point.

[angelic] Oh well, I just have to start bringing the hounds - that'll thin out the crowds and hordes that'll be coming now - the boys can give any day of a good fish bite a case of the "lock jaw" and send any fish worthy of it's fins out to the middle of the lake - not to mention what their abundant slobber can do to a pair of waders and they can sling that slime to the ceiling and beyond - further than most folks can cast anything.

[cool]Thanks for the great info, TD. I don't think I'll be able to make this class on Monday. Driving time (in traffic) from Davis County and waiting for a relative to get home to watch the baby won't quite work for me, but this info is great to review.

Hopefully, I'll be able to make the gathering to "test" what we have learned. Hope you get a nice turnout and good inquiring students at your class.

[cool][#0000ff]No worries, mate. That's a large area and it takes time to learn it...especially during different water levels, seasons and weather conditions. Simply telling someone an area is no better than telling them which lake to fish. However, if they read the rest of that stuff, before they all caravan down to your own top secret honey hole, then they might have a better chance.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You know as well as I that telling somebody something is only half the equation. Unless you are able to give them some "hounds on" instruction, they are liable to miss out on a lot. It is like giving someone a custom jig, without detailed instructions on where and how to fish it. They are likely to just snag it up or something. (sound familiar?)[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]That area is far enough away from most launch spots that you will not likely have many more boats, extremely few tubes or toons and probably zero waders...so I wouldn't worry about having to bring your furry kids along as deterrents.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]We would love to see your smiling face Geoff, but we understand. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Anyway, you have been through Walleye 101. Now you have to complete your hours of "lab" work, before you can get your degree.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I assumed that there would be folks who wouldn't or couldn't be at the meeting who would still like the written part of the course. Hope it helps.[/#0000ff]
