The brand of rod doesn't really matter to me. But I'd go with this because is has some give yet you can feel when the lure is grabbed or snagged.

I like a stiffer rod for my cranks. I use a medium/hard 6'6" rod.

I have to agree with you Bassmaster. I tried out med and med/heavy and preferred the med/ heavy. I got a 7' shimano , one pc,graphite for 8-16lb test. Come on spring. [cool]
