Sippin Coniac and tying flies
#1
What better way to spend a snowy Day! I have been tying "Brook's fly" today. I named it after a student I was teaching to fly fish. She was having a tough time catching fish and this fly had never been tried so I tied it on her line and she promptly started nailing fish after fish.

Hook: Daiichi 1120 18-14
Bead: orange glass
thread: 8/0 fl orange
Tail: mallard flank
abdoman: orange krystal flash
shell back: mallard flank
Thorax: fl orange brite blend (spirit river)
legs: mallard flank

That looks like an excellent fly for carp - if you'll subdue the color a little bit - I'll take one. While your at it, pour me up one of those cognacs. You're right - tieing one up and tieing one on - a fine way to spend a snowy evening. Not a bad choice on a stream either - if it's a fly you're tieing on - that is.
