DNR issues ice warning for aerated lakes

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) warns ice anglers,
snowmobilers, skiers and other outdoor enthusiasts to use caution when
going onto any lake covered or partially covered with ice, especially
those that have operating aeration systems. The full story is at

It should be a state regimented law that they have a permit to airate parts of the lake, and it should be a law that any airation systems should be marked at every access point to the lake with a map showing where the entrant is standing and where the aireator is positioned and so many yards out on to the lake from the aireator system to keep winter sporters safe from falling in to hidden traps.

this is baisicly the same as wiring a loaded shot gun to your front door for some one to break in.

one cant see what is going on under the ice. with todays liability laws I am sure there will be some hungry lawers looking for a law suit of this nature.

any one placing the aireator needs to hold the responcibility of making the arrea compleatly to prevent axidental deaths....

dont get me wrong, aireators have benifits to both structure and for the fish. we just need to keep it safe for every one.
