Hi all:
I know that some of you were saying that you missed out on the sale at Creek Company for the ODC 420. Well, according to their website, it is back on sale. This time for $100. Here is the link: [url "http://creekcompany.com/multidisplay-s.php"]ODC $100 LINK[/url]
At that price, I might buy a spare. Hope everyone has a great Christmas/Holliday.

Wow! There are some good deals on there. But don't hesitate. As we saw before, those sales go away very quickly and without notice.

Fellow Tubers,
I tried to order (1) last night, and, no luck at that price. They said they only had Two to sell at that price. Hardly a chance for anyone with the internet business being what it is[unsure]

That stinks. The ol' bait and switch? Hope you let them know how you felt about the matter. Here we're pumping their products and they're deceiving people? Urrk!

Sometimes it's just quicker and easier to go to your local dive shop with your gear and just pay a few dollars more to get some fins that are going to be there and that you know will fit properly.[cool]

That's what I did, got my son a ODC 420 for Christmas and it would be here maybe tuesday or wed from another dealer than them. I got my son the fins last year and he says they work nice! I don't have one myself yet and I move around with my arms. I want to get fins and see what it does.

I'm sure you will have much better mobility once that you have your fins.
Be sure to take your thick socks, waders, and wader booties when you go in to try your fins on. It is important that your feet are not constricted while using the tube with all of your goodies on.[cool]

Bluegillman you are having a heck of a time, aren't you. Where is the love this Holiday? Hey, while you are looking for fins, check out the Force Fins. Bought pair this year (the ones with the neoprene on the top and heel strap) and what a difference. They are fully adjustable and they won't wear out the sides of your shoes like alot of the others do. A chunk of change at around $129. but worth every penny, specially in the wind or if you wanna get movin' fast.

[cool][#0000ff]Glad you like the Force Fins, but I had just the opposite experience. I got a pair in a package deal when I bought a Fat Cat, waders, pump and fins from a guy in California who could not use them after buying them. I tried the Force Fins for about an hour and took them off and went back to my Mares Plana Avantis. I sold them for $25 and would never own another pair.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]They were hard to adjust, flopped around on my feet, and I could not get nearly the thrust with them that I can with the long blades on my other fins. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It is all a matter of personal preference. [/#0000ff]

really? there are different grades of force fins. The least expensive is molded plastic that you have to buy small, medium, large, & x large, then there is the second grade(more money) that have neoprene on the top with a strap that clips and a strap across the back with neoprene wrapped around it (these are the ones I have) one size fits all, then there is the super expensive set that come in different colors. I have had no problem and I had the long Browning ones in the past, they made my legs too tired trying to move those. That is why I liked the forcefinns, the "V" shape of the over all finn not just the toe (bowl shape sort of) makes going forward and back easier on my legs and they don't wear out the sides of my boots.

[cool][#0000ff]In all fairness, there are many models of the Force Fins. They are considered to be a quality line and they have many fans. I just don't happen to be one of them, based upon my setup and what I prefer.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]First, I do not wear wading boots, like many fly flingers. I wear neoprene flats boots over my waders, and then use the soft pocket divers fins. I find that much more comfortable.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have been a diver at least two weeks longer than I have been a float tuber...since I was 12 years old, newly transplanted to California from Idaho. I learned how to snorkel and then used my snorkeling fins to kick myself around in an innertube, without a seat. I eventually made my own seats and float tube covers, long before there were many available commercially.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have always preferred the adjustable strap diving fins for tubing, and have always used mostly lightweight waders (with layers) and the neoprene booties. I get the largest size foot pocket I can and then add socks as needed for colder water, without cramping up my feet. Whenever I have tried the same thing with wading boots, I get cramped feet and cold tootsies.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Another consideration is that I am pretty big and have very strong legs. I can almost throw a rooster tail with my large fins, so I do not need wimpy little V shaped fins to keep me from getting tired (sorry). I have tubed in some pretty strong currents and can maintain position and even move upstream in moderate flows.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]When I "tested" my adjustable Force Fins, it was on a day when it started out calm and then got breezy. I quickly discovered that I had to kick a lot more and a lot harder in order to maintain any kind of position, compared to the divers fins I normally used. To me, that was the main determining factor in my evaluation. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Propulsion is basic physics...displacement of water in order to push yourself in the desired direction. With fins, there are several factors that come into play. The design, shape and size of the fin blade all enter into it. So does the relative stiffness of the blade. Stiffer blades are harder to kick, and tire you faster, but you get more push per kick. Floppy blades are easier to kick, but you lose a lot of thrust to the flex of the blade. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The fin blades on my Mares divers fins are long and about medium stiffness. I would not recommend them for a newbie, unless that newbie was an experienced diver or otherwise excellent swimmer. I have to be careful whenever I take someone new out tubing, so that I do not subject them to more of a workout than they can handle. I hate it when I have to tow a pooped out rookie a half mile back to the vehicle...against the wind.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I would never presume to cast aspersions upon any make or model of tube, waders, fins or whatever. Most have their places and there are anglers who prefer each of them, for their own reasons. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The purpose of this board is not for any of us to hold forth on what is the absolute best and what nobody should EVER buy. The best we can hope for is to present the options and the features to look for, so that each of us can make informed decisions when we plunk down our precious bucks.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am sure that there are lots unregistered visitors who read our reviews and are grateful for the information we provide, even if they never register and chime in. I know that we have many registered members who "looked before they leaped". It is good to know that we have helped ease the way for lots of potential floatation fishermen who would otherwise have to go through a lot of expensive trial and error like some of us have.[/#0000ff]

You being a diver I understand perfectly. I have never done that. I am also tall and thin, so I don't worry about what my tuube will hold in weight like you big boys.
I was going to ask if you used boots, cause with those flippers most don't. I have to use shes on my browning, (thin foot) plus in my echo and cardiac I only wear hip boot foot. I wear waist highs in my fat cat and I do alot of river fishing so I have the light weight boots. One thing I gotta say though, I can walk facing forward in my FF[ ]
Also being a light weight we get some good winds with white caps and I can move forward in mine (or should I say backwards)
I know that the majority of you guys spinn, bait and fly fish, but I am strickly fly fish, so the studded boots are a must for me. Keeping the price real, I never bought christmas island booties, something else for me to missplace[ ]

[#0000ff]Don't know if you ever wander over to the picture board, but toward the bottom of the thread on "Waders and Footwear" there are pics of some of the different types of booties some of us use.[/#0000ff]
