pineview muskies on ice
#1
Does anyone have any tips for ice fishing for tiger muskies at pineview? where and what would help. I have read about people ice fishing for northern pike and also muskies in the great lakes region, but I don't here much about any of that around here.

I would like to know about that also. I did read an article over at UtahOutDoors.com about it. But it didn't give a whole lot of information. Only that don't plan on landing many that you might hook. Oh yeah and to keep your hand out of the way of those razor sharp teeth if you do get one through the hole.

All I can say is if you have sonar while your fishing for the perch you will know when one comes buy. The few I have hooked I have used a large 4-6" jig tipped with perch meat. I have seen them in around 25-35' of water cruising at different levels. I have yet to get one through the hole. Last Jan while fishing with nephew we had 4 fish either ripped off the line or came in with large pieces of there bodies missing but I didn't have any large tackle to fish for them that day. Good luck it is much harder than it souds to get one through the ice hole. And you have more guts than me if you are willing to put your arm in under the ice and try to pull them through like a laker.

Hey Tightlines, I don't want to land them !!! I just want to fish for them. I mean I wouldn't stick my hand in a baracudas mouth. So I doubt very much that I would try that with a Muskie. LOL But the bloody stump image makes me Smile. Now that would be a true, hard core fisherman! Just the fight would be good enough for me Tight. Landing it would be a bonus, but how would you release back through that ice hole??

I would say with a good jaw gripper you could probably pull one up???

When I caught mine I could feel the power its jaws and the points of its teeth poking through my thick leather work gloves. hmmmm, maybe a large pair of vice grips would do the job[crazy][Tongue]
