well went down to fish lake today.. got there around 9:30 in the morrning.. we went down in the cheese hole area. started in the deep water about 60 feet.. was hiting rainbows in the 14" to 18" size about every 10 min's or so.. could not find the splake out there tho.. the wind was so strong it took my buddy for about a 100 yard ride in his ice hut before he tied it to my snowmobile and even then it picked the rear end of my sled up off the ice and moved it about 5 feet.. so to say the big W was on today might be a under statment.. after getting into the bow's i wanted to get some splake so moved in to 30 foot area to see if i could find some.. no dice just more rainbows is all.. well around 2:00 in the afternoon i was going to see if i could get some perch to take home for a snack tonight and bait for the next trip.. will that did not work out to good ether..
i found the splake tho in 15 feet of water.. and the splake were monster (minnows) for the most part.. biggest one was around 15" but i was killing them on most anything i put on with a pice on perch on it.. finley about 20 min's befor the sun went down i cought the one and only perch of the day.. a big 5" perch was it..
the ice was more than safe around 10" solid and no slush anywhere to be found.. i'm not sure if the whole lake is frozen or not i did not go anywhere but to the cheese hole on the south end..
all in all a good day other than the big W was being a pain in the rear end and it was cold as all get out most the day..

hey man i wish i had a camcorder yesterday as well dude!! it was funny to see T put his head out the door and screem like a little girl!! lol
after i got done laughing my but off at him i got on the snowmobile and went and got him.. lol
but i had my share of things flying acrosst the ice as well i had to chace my buckit down 3 times befor i put my tackle bag in it to keep it from flying down the lake..
there is not much snow on the ice.. that is why it was hard to keep things from blowing away.. the wind would hit it and it would just slide on down the lake.. there is sonw on the ice tho.. my snowmobile went great on it.. and i seen 4 wheelers out there running around as well..
oh yeah GPS some nice spots out there yesterday man..lmao!
i think T gps'ed his ice hut while it was moveing tho.. hahaha

Had a friend call me last night about some fish he caught out of Fishlake recently. It was obvious from his description that he had caught a couple Brood stock Lake Trout. They were pretty de-formed, and finless. He was concerened about eating them, and actually had some idiot up at the lake tell him that the fish had a parasite and were not safe to eat.
For all those that have caught these fish: They are SAFE to eat. They DO NOT have a parasite. They have been in a hatchery providing eggs and milt for a number of years, which is the cause for the missing fins, and damaged gill plates, noses, and everything else. After a few years, they are then stocked. Fishlake got something like 250 of these brood lake trout this year. They are commonly caught, and are safe to eat. Ugly, yes. But, also safe to eat.
