Fishing reports in Cache Valley?
#1
Anyone have any recent reports for Mantua, Hyrum, or Porcupine?
Went to Mantua last saturday. Not much luck, only one but it was a monster blue gill.

The weather was nice for most of the day, then a snow storm hit and the temp fell. Not many out on the lake...the few there were fishing over on the east side between the gnoll and inlet.

Hey lavaman, you know i didn't fish this weekend because of work but I talked to a friend friday nite; he fished the Logan River that day below right fork and hooked up with a few nice Browns between 14and 16 inches. As for the dams hopefully I'll find out this weekend![Smile]

It's been a while since I got out too. Nice to see a couple new members interested in Cache Valley though, I used to post more often but didn't get very many Cache Valley specific responses. I love ice fishing Hyrum, catfishing the Bear, ice-off at porcupine, and hitting the Logan through town for some bigger browns than you would expect. Hope to hear more from you guys in the future and I'll be sure to post up when I make it out.

Welcome to all you new Cache Valley folks. As for me and the fishing I have done such little this fall and winter it stinks. I went to Porcupine a couple of time in Oct and Nov but only caught small ones. Tried Hyrum in late Nov. before ice up and did nothing. Dec I spent hacking and caughing and that was it so, I hope 2006 will be a little more kind. Hope to see and meet all of you on the water.

Good luck on the dams! Any one that you prefer over the others? I haven't fished them for quite a while.

I always ice fished 1st dam. Seemed to have decent luck there. Don't know why I never tried the other 2 - I guess they seemed small for ice fishing.

I just graduated from USU and moved to Salt Lake. I never thought I would miss Logan - but I miss the SHORT commute to the fishing.

I like to fish porky for koknee in the spring and summer; Hyrum if I have enough time in a day to wait out the bite. Also fish cutler around the benson marina for crappie and catfish in the spring; caugth a nice small mouth about 2 1/2 lbs and put it back. In the fall 3rd dam in logan canyon I fish it a little also....

Where I go on Porcupine is on the upper end. Don't have a boat; but if you do my friends say they troll with a Super Duper lure in a silver or silver/red combo. Take my family and catch them from the bank off of powr bait and salmon eggs.
