Causey 1/14/06
#1
Well it was a crazy day. My wife, three other adults, and I took 8 scouts to Causey. We arrived at 0730 and found that the ice had already been discovered by several others and even another group of scouts that had camped over night. The weather was warmer than expected and the slush king had made his residence. We fished the north arm just up from the dam and had ok luck in 18-25 feet of water. My wife out fished most of us and even out fished me. I can admit this because I never put a rod in my hand. Several of the scouts did not have the equipment so I found myself without a rod when all was said and done. The best part about the trip was that it was my wife's first time on the ice and I think she will go again. Also one of the adult leaders brought his 6 year old son, Tanner, who found the hot spot and caught 6 or 7 fish on his very own. Ice was in good shape but it did have 2-3 inches of slush on top.

If that is a tiger trout that Tanner is holding, that is a good fish for Causey, how big is it? Did you guys catch any kokanee? WH2

The tiger was about 13 inches and we caught about 6 kokanee that were lost from the school. Never got into the kokes that good.

Six kokanee is great, a few people have seen some big school come through but most people are only catching a couple. How did you get that snowmobile down to the ice?
