I'm still learning about the Kokes. This thing called a dodger, it looks like a side panel off a spaceship or something, geez! Is it better than pop gear and does it have alot of drag?

check out shasta tackles line of sling blade dodgers. they have almost zero drag and work great for kokes. jared johnson and shasta tackle are having that thing at cabelas on the 15th of march. you'll get a lot of info there.

I have never found the drag from dodgers,or popgear to be much of a problem when fishing for kokes.90% of fishing for kokes on open water is done with downrigger's,so drag is only a matter when reeling in a fish.Popgear ,dodgers, and sling blades are all good for catching kokes,as the all give the lure alot more action .I think that sling blades have less drag then dodgers, but not much. Some times i will use two sling blades at once to create more of a whipping action on the lure.
One of the most important things about using blade, dodgers,or popgear is finding the right combination of lure action, speed, and depth to give the right presention.I have found that some types of lures work best with dodgers,as others work better with popgear. Some times i will work a dodger on one side with popgear on the other. But if your using a down riggger, and the pole is in the rod holder, drag shouldnt be a problem.

i sometimes have a problem, as does my grandpa, from getting worn out from reeling in fish. when i get too sore from reeling in pop geer i find sling blades, or other dodgers, a pretty nice change. besides, its funner to fight only the weight of the fish. also, using dodgers you can scale down the weight of your rod. i sometimes use a small spinning outfit and its a blast for the kokes.

I use mono ,usually 10# test with light tackle .Using braided line when fishing for kokes ,would be overkill IMO.

I will start off by saying Braided line is a no-no, for Kokanee especially due to the fact that there is no stretch and the fight of kokanee in general which is usually violent tend's to rip right out of their mouth's. I would agree with kokeking 10# line is the standard I fish with and I like many have my favorite lines for kokanee so as long as you have that tensil strength you will be fine.
As far as your dodger question I growing up used pop-gear/as well as dodger's and both work if they are presented correctly and at the right speed. That being said I rarely if ever use Pop/gear anymore not because it does not work but as other's have said there is far less drag on most Dodger's. The sling Blade that my company produces is only cupped on one end and that produces less drag yet you still get a good action. We have come out with a mid range dodger for spring so that alot of us fishing kokanee will have to not go to our large dodger to find more action. It will be at the ISE show in march as well as in Sportsmans warehouse and Cabela's there after.
Let me know if I can be of some help to you
