This came across the e-mail today. I can't vouch for the validity, but I thought it was interesting.....

The weather is nice folks - anyone want to go water skiing? If so,
don't go skiing or swimming in Lake Sam Rayburn.....
[black]This was killed on Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas a few weeks ago. It is a pending Lake Record and BAA World Record Alligator Garfish[/black]

We need a few of them for Jordanelle and Deer Creek to keep away the water skiers......

I have targeted gar in Florida and I think I would've wet myself if I saw one of those while in my aluminum boat. If that is fake, hes done a better job than some that I've seen lately, if real....I don't like to swim anyway.

Alligator gar pike have been known to be over 6 feet long...and yes if that picture is real...I think I'll take up becoming a land lubber.

Can you imagine hooking that monster while fishing from a float tube?

That fish is big enough to troll for skier's...and catch them. Ouch.

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Cliff, I have tubed all over the country, even in gar-infested waters. But, as I say in my tubing book, the alligator gar is one of the only fish I have never caught or even fished for from a float tube.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The reason? I have shot them with arrows down around Houston. We had the line from the arrows attached to heavy salt water marlin rods and battled them in on that after sticking them. I have experienced how strong and dangerous they are at the side of a large boat. No way would I ever want one within a hundred yards of a float tube, with me in it.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]An old boy that ran a fishing camp down there used to have a big 'gator gar that hung out under one of his docks. When a guy came in with a big bass and crowed about it too much, the old boy would scoff at him and say that he had a pet fish that could eat that bass. If challenged he would invite the proud bass owner to dangle the bass in the water off the dock. When the fishing camp owner banged on the dock a couple of time, that big ol gar would snarf the bass in a big splash. Really raised the bass guys' laundry bill, if they didn't die of a heart attack.[/#0000ff]

Those pictures are from a bow fishing guide service called Aim Low. They make bow fishing videos that are pretty cool. They have some clips of their videos on their website and it looks like it would be a blast. If you have a chance check out the videos.
