Swapping outboard motors
#1
[crazy] [red]I am looking at another boat, and I am wondering about the mounting plates on the Outboard motors. Does anyone know if the Mounting bolt pattern is universal on all Outboards or is there quite a bit of differance in them. I am looking at swapping out a bad merc for a good Evinrude. [red]I put an old Merc 150 that I got from P4L on a boat that Predator had that he took his Yamaha 150 - I think? Can't remember -- off of and the holes were no where close. It wasn't hard swapping. I used stainless steel plugs with a nylon rimmed acorn nut and silicon to seal and strengthen the old holes. It always makes me a little nervous drilling new holes in a boat for some reason but was pretty easy. The hardest part was making sure it was square to the boat and in the right position. [red] Thats kind of what I was afraid of, Thanks for the info. I might have to just fill in the holes first and work from there.[/red]
