Does anyone know if there is anyplace on nine mile to launch a small aluminum boat where you can actually back the boat down into the water?

There was but with the high water it might be hard to get to.Fuzzyfisher would be the one to know. Also it gets really muddy in there with the melting snow and you can get stuck very easily.Maybe fuzzy will chime in and give you updated info.I know he ice fishes it.

I'm not the fuzz but I'll chime in. There is two places that's possible to launch a boat. One is just inside the gate and up over the dike to your right. This one is a little tougher to launch because you are coming off the dike with not much gravel. Lot's of clay. The best one is to hang a left inside the gate. Travel south west along the bottom of the dike until the road you are on comes to the dam. As soon as you are at the top of the hill the boat ramp is to your right. Lot's of gravel. You might need a 4x4 depending on how heavy your boat is. Or where the water level is. Just remember once off the dike there is alot of sticky clay. But it can be done. I'm gonna miss 9-mile. My biggest to date out of 9-mile is 9 pounds. Rainbow. Good Luck. Pikeman GO FISH P.S. if your asking there is no cement boat ramp.

YEP 9 POUNDS AND ABOUT 4 OUNCES TO BE EXACT. I HAVE ALSO CAUGHT AN 8 AND A HANDFUL OF 6 POUNDERS. ABOUT 18 YEARS AGO. CAUGHT THEM IN THE CHANNEL. TROLLING FLAT FISH. THOSE WERE THE DAYS. I HAVE ALSO WATCHED A GUY FROM THE BANK CATCH 2 CAT FISH ONE WAS 21 POUNDS AND THE OTHER WAS 32 POUNDS. I SUSPECT THE CAT FISH CAME OUT OF GUNNISON RES. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF STERLING. FROM THE BUCKET BIOLOGISTS. PIKEMAN GO FISH

Hey Ron, did you happen to find any Pike in Redmond? It has been slim pickens down there for the past few years.

Thanks for the information. I ended up just going without the boat on saturday, and took the hole family. We tried off the dike for a few hours with no bites. I think from what I've seen that the north end has more vegetation and probably more fish. Anyway, I did end up catching one spawning male rainbow that I could see from shore off the east dike, he was 22 inches and I released him, but he was fun to catch. It looks like there are still some decent size fish in there. Now that I know where the better boat dock is I'll take the boat next time.
Does anyone know how long those rainbows spawn before they get back to their regular routine? [signature] |
