pineview musky questions
#1
[Smile]hey fellow tiger musky anglers. i have a few questions to ask and i hope that you guys can help me out. i caught a 25" tiger musky about 8 years ago out of the kickboat fishing for crappie. my brother and i are wanting to catch a big tiger musky for the wall. we want to get a reproduction mount if we can get a big one. my question is what kind of tackle should we get jigs/spinner baits/mepps etc. what's the best. also what's the best time to go for the muskys water temps and where would be a good place to start fishing. any information would be greatly appreciated.
good luck fishin trfishin

May 15-july 31, top water(buzz baits), north side of cemetary point in the shallows, water temp should be very warm. 2 years ago i personally landed 39 tigers in a 3 week span all on top water and one on my fly rod. The best was 46" but i had an honest 50"+ on and he spit the hook(that is why i started using an inline gamagatsu stinger hook on the end of my buzzbaits). When it gets closer to those dates pm me and i will tell you where they are hitting good or i would be glad to take you. The look in another persons eyes when they catch one on topwater is priceless, and then you can make jokes about them crapping their pants. Good luck

[cool][#0000ff]Early summer and early fall are typically the times when most tigers are hooked. That's when the water temps are in their ideal ranges, and they are in shallower water actively feeding. That means water temps over 65 and under 75...or thereabouts. They go deeper and are less active in water warmer and colder than that.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Some guys troll for them, with big Rapalas and other muskie lures. But, probably more fish of all sizes end up hitting average size lures, like shad raps, in natural shad or perch patterns. Quite a few tigers every year munch plastic tubes being tossed for smallmouth. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you aren't pressed for time, and if you are a bit creative and ambitious, you can use the SEARCH function at the top to look up past posts on Pineview and Tiger Muskies. There have been a lot of good informative posts in the past, and the SEARCH button can help you find them without having to look through all of the past threads.[/#0000ff]

Yeah, a bunch of us should definitley hook something up, I know I wouldn't mind getting a first tiger. It would be great to fish with someone who has actually caught them on a consistent basis. Let us know?

[Smile]hey thanks guys for the information on the tiger musky fishing. i will definately have to check out that website on past pineview posts. i'll check them out and see what i can learn there too. fishing is just like anything else in life. there is always something to learn each trip know matter how much you know about a fish there is always something new to try and often ends up producing fish better than the thing you have been useing for years. well i think that i'll have to pick up my brother and head to sportsmens warehouse for some more frenzys, some buzz baits and a few other goodies. i'm sure the wife will love the idea of me buying some more fishing tackle as she tells me i have enough and don't need anymore. the last time she started in about the amount of fishing tackle i have i started to count her shoes and suddenly she gave me the car keys and the check book and told me to have fun shopping. well thanks again for the information it is very much appreciated. maybe we will be able to hook up sometime and get down there for a chance at one of those huge tiger muskys. thanks trfishin
