Corona Lake's Lightning Trout record broken with 15-pounder
#1
James Lauckner of West Los Angeles landed a 15-pound Lightning Trout to set a new lake record at Corona Lake this past Saturday. It was also the biggest trout caught at the lake this past week.

The record catch topped a week of very good trout action at Corona, where the best bite has been on floating baits, nightcrawlers, or jigs doused with Crave Gravy. The best time to fish has been in the early afternoons around 1 p.m.

There were at least seven trout at 8-0 or better caught this past week, and the warm weather also stirred up some catfish. The best was 14.7-pounder landed by Juan Barboza, Santa Ana, while fishing with shrimp at the back of the lake.

The water level continues to rise, and the lake is getting very close to being full. All the launch ramps are open.

Corona Lake is open seven days a week. Anglers can fish from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes, or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each pass has a five-fish limit.
