boat motor dilemas!!!!!
#1
I am not sure how many of you have experienced this but I didn't have too much fun today. I have a 6 horse 80's model Evinrude. I have an 18' boat.

Granted, I have only owned it (motor) for a few months, it has run very well. The guy I bought it from had used it very little and went through the carb.

Here is what happens: It starts great, and runs great in neutral. When I engage it into gear it will not increase nor decrease power. I have ran it lean, rich and everywhere in between. It will run slow for a while and then die. A few pulls and then it starts up again.

I have mixed the gas correctly and have no idea what is going on. Any guesses???? Thanks

I'd pull the cover off & make sure the linkage to the carburetor and ignition spark advance is all hooked up & working. It sounds suspiciously like one or the other, maybe both, aren't functioning.
