Ocean, Fuzzyfisher, or anyone else. I would like to take my family camping and fishing tonight up Fairview canyon. What suggestions would you have to increase my kids possibilities of success for fishing. What lake suggestion? I have three kids 3, 5, and 7. What methods? Fly/Bubble, nightcrawlers?
I appreciate your advice and help.
Thanks!

hey warmH20..
well you have alot of places to choose from up this way.. i'm thinking of heading up my self this weekend.. i'm only 30 min's away tho.. lol
ok well by far the best place up there to catch alot of fish is E-lake!
worm's,minnows, and spin-a-lures are the best at E-lake.. there is some realy good camping spots up there as well..
i have been hearing of some good fish comeing out of fairview lakes as well.. but i dont fish there when they make you pay to park!! to meny better places to go that are free..
with the kidds i would stay away from huntinton! it's been spotty all summer.. (i think it because the water level keeps changing)..
cleveland has not done to good after they drained it and fixed the dam.. but should be comeing around soon!! i have not heard much on that one ether..
if you have a boat and dont mind a longer drive alittle more down the road is Joe's Valley..it was rocking on jig's tipped with chub last weekend..
most all the other lakes up there will be full of planters ready for the takeing.. spin-a-lures will work best on most all of them.. or the fly and bobber thing works good as well..
just getting up out of the heat well be a good thing this weekend tho i think..
good luck to ya.. let me know if i can help ya more..

Thanks Ron,
I think Electric Lake sounds good. Where's a good camping location? Do you access the lake from the north end? How is Gooseberry? Would it be worth trying?
I like the lure or the bubble/fly options. I want it to be active for the kids. The powebait option may bore them quickly. Would the spin a lure be a good option for the other lakes as well? Any specific color or size?
Sorry for all the questions.

hey Ryan.
yeah i stay on the north end of E-lake most the time.. there are some great camping spots right on the water..
i would not do power bait at e-lake tho.. minnows or worm work much better..
anything gold or brass has been doing best at E-lake this year..
gooseberry should be ok on planters with power bait.. but you have to pay to camp.. i say why pay? there is alot better fishing to be had up there with out haveing to pay to camp!!
oh yeah the spin-a-lure will work just as good on all the lakes up there..
all the small lakes up there are planted evey 2 or 3 weeks.. so planters are easy to find up there at most any of the lakes except E-lake..

Thanks a bunch. I think we'll plan on Electric Lake. I use to fish Cleveland about 10 years ago, but I've never fished Electric. I'm excited to get the kids out and hope they can all catch a fish or two. If I can keep them active for an hour or two on the water I'll call it a success.
Thanks again,
I'll try to post the results when I return.

WarmH2O: I've had fair success chucking mepps spinners at those lakes. They seem heavy enough for kids to throw from shore and the planters seem to like 'em. Have Fun!

Thanks Guys for the help for this past weekend. We drove to Electric Lake, but my wife wanted a camping spot with more trees, so we headed up to Cleveland where we use to camp 10+ years ago. We got on the water around 8:30pm and within 30 seconds my daughter was reeling in the first of many fish. I was trying to setup a couple of poles, but I could'nt keep the fish off. After the fourth fish I finally had two poles rigged up and it was non stop every 2-5 minutes until about 10:00 when we decided to head back to the camp spot. Most of the fish were planters 12 inches or so. With an occasional 16-18 incher. I've never caught that big of fish out of Cleveland. Saturday morning was similar to Friday night, fish every 5-10 minutes. We used rainbow power bait about 18-24" from the bottom.
