Steelhead trout coming to Corona Lake next week
#1
The weather change this week slowed the trout action at Corona Lake, but there is still pretty good action for anglers fishing from boats with Crave Bait or nightcrawlers doused in Crave Gravy.

The best trout of the week was a 7 1/2-pounder caught by Brian Jones, Riverside, that topped a limit of five rainbows that weighed in at 12 pounds Tom Wright, Anaheim, had a 7-pounder. Both anglers were using Crave Bait or Crave Gravy to make their catches.

It was the catfish that really turned on for anglers fishing mackerel dipped in garlic Crave Gravy or Hog Wild. The bite was best in the flooded timber, but a lot of fish to 5-0 were caught. Sam and Joanne Randolph, both Buena Park, had four channels at 4-0 each.

But the big fish of the week was a 9 1/2-pound carp caught by Art Montoya, Santa Ana, on a nightcrawler.

Steelhead trout are slated to be planted prior to two big four-day events set for Feb. 20-23 and Feb. 27-March 2.

Corona Lake is open seven days a week. Anglers can fish from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes, or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each pass has a five-fish limit.
