Strawberry 9/1&2/06
#1
Did an overnighter at Strawberry with Wiperslayer1 and Tincanfsh. Couldn't locate the fish in the evening (Billy caught 2), so we called it a night and climbed into our sleeping bags at 11:30 PM. Up before 6:00 this morning, with lines in the water. We caught a few here and there, until MGB was kind enough to give us some help on where to find the fish. We ended up catching about 100 between the three of us, which was almost as many as MGB caught all by himself (that was before we left at 4:30 PM -- who knows how many he caught after we left)! That guy can jig Strawberry like no one else. All fish were caught vertically jigging tubes tipped with minnows.

Kent,

Sounds like you ended up with a pretty good trip. Was it pretty chilly Friday night? I should have went, the sweet corn is not ready to pick, I guess the cool nights have slowed it down. This is my second crop.

Good to here you found some . I only boated 30 to 40 but It was still great to get out for a change . I fished maniacs and a few other things for my success . No bait needed for me today . State Park rangers were out and about and dumb me forgot to put my new stickers on my boat which expired last month . They never come over to me so I lucked out . Stickers are not doing me any good on my desk .

I wouldn't say I caught 100 all by myself but finished the day some where around 60 and I dout I broke the 70 mark. That many fish gets hard to keep track of. I stayed for an hour and a half longer after you left and caught about 15 more, one being a nice 24 incher, that was released, like the one I showed you earlier plus boated and released another over the slot.

Funny thing about the area we fished today, two weeks ago when I was up there I spoted a bunch of fish in that area but they would not bite so we moved close to the area you where at when I called you. When I got to the ladders today nobody was fishing that area and it was well away from the crowd so I thought I would give it another try.

Too bad you couldn't find the fish in the evening, but it sounds like you guys made up for it in the end! Nice work.

Not sure how cold it got, but it wasn't bad at all. And we were extremely grateful for no fog.

Mike, you fish much better than you count! Almost every time I looked over at your boat you were landing a fish.

Hard to pass up on Strawberry when I almost always catch lots of fish up there, and a few times I have really gotten into them at Willard, but then there are the trips where I get skunked at Willard (for example two trips this spring -- the day before and the BFT tourney).

Hey Kent,
I was up there at the Ladders Saturday morning also. I was with my cousin in his old 14 foot boat. I looked for a red and white boat, but couldn't find you, I was going to come over and see the new ride!...besides, we were too busy catching fish! We launched right at the ladders, but I wouldn't recomend that unless your boat can be lifted out of the water onto the trailer!
