Good news for those with a second-pole permit
#1
According to todays Salt Lake Tribune, section E3, it will be legal to fish with two poles in any fishing water in the state starting on Jan. 1, 07. This is provided you have a second pole permit[Smile]. Wahoo, what a deal. WH2

[black][size 3]We may not be allowed to keep any perch from Yuba, but at least next year, with the state-wide two-pole allowance, we can release them twice as fast. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Oh, I guess Yuba was already a two-pole permit water, so no real change with that little item down there.[/size][/black]

I was wondering if second pole permits will go to 365 day permits too, or if they will remain on the calendar year. It will be a pain to have permits expiring at different times in the year...

Now some people I know will be able to use that second pole up at the berry without getting a ticket! Not gonna mention any names for the gunmeisters sake.....[Wink]

[cool][#0000ff]Yes...the two pole permit will also be a 365 day thing now. UDWR is moving toward making all permits and licenses that way. [/#0000ff]

That will be cool to be able to legally fish with 2 poles.
I don't see the walleye limit changing one thing in population control. they could raise the limit to 15 or more, it's not going to change a thing, even at willard bay, keeping the willard limit at 6 is a joke.
How many people, do you guys know, that catch limits of walleye ?? I can bet on it, that not very many at all. in 12 years of fishing deer creek hard for walleye I can count the limits that I have caught on 1 hand, about 5 thats it. at certain times of the year it can be done with no big deal for some guys, but alot of guys have a hard time with um.
another thing, how many guys have caught walleyes thru the ice, or should I say, how many people even fish for walleye thru the ice ??? thats another good bet, not many at all. we can always hope that the limit change will get more people to fish for walleyes more times then trout. later chuck

You can fish with 2 poles at the same time, but only in certain lakes as of right now. but in 07 every lake will be open to it. later chuck

[cool]I really hope that Starvation freezes for a decent amount of time this year, because I'd love to ice fish for 'eyes and perch up there this year.

I wasn't too concerned with the other changes because I don't think they amount to much. I was glad to see they raised the size limit of Walleye, to one over 24 inches but just like Chuck said, how many of those fish do most people catch in one outting. I'm not sure about them raising the limit on Scofield, I guess that is why it is an experiment. It's too bad they didn't make the changes on perch at Yuba[Sad]

Two poles through up at the berry will be a lot of fun. And since all the fish are turned loose it shouldn't make any difference as to the fish and resoURCE. I love fishing with two poles on Starvation, Willard and the gorge already. HAPPY FISHING TO ALL.

I totally agree......the new walleye limit won't make a difference. It's impossible to catch 6 as it is. Even during the best time of the year. They should have made the limit change last year. lol. That was the ONLY year in over 20 years of fishing that I could take advantage of that extra bag limit. I doubt it will ever happen again in my entire lifetime. That was just a bizarre occurence with the Utah lake eye explosion last year where you could easily get hits from 20 eyes before getting one white bass. However the size limit change is good.
