I'm ready to go ice fishing. I've been ready for a month. My experience has been that there hasn't been safe ice untill after Christmas. Did go ice fishing a week before Christmas two years ago at Scofield. I'm ready to go now !

Got the ice tranducer for my Lowrance X102C and the fancy bag to carry it all in, the battery is charged and I'm ready to go. I also got me a Slush Inhaler:

Not sure how I'm going to fit it all on my sled, but can't wait to try.

But when time does come, I'll be standing behind my ol' buddy at Huntington. You'll know its me because I'll be the feller with your tackle box and gear held tightly in hand, and holding the other end of the rope that secured tightly around your neck for your safety[Wink]

I have never been ice fishing. I am looking forawrd to going this year. I just found out a budy of mine has an ice auger. Besides the cold weather gear and a modified transducer mount for my fish finder is there anything else that may be needed before venturing our on the hard water?

Thanks

well kent i ordered a ice fishing package for my lowrance X135.. it was some thing like 170.00 + shipping..[crazy]
i'm going to try that other than my vexilar.. it seams my vexilar give me some bad headakes if i watch it for a long time.. it's the flashing lights i'm sure.. if i'm out side it's not so bad but in the ice hut it's loud and the bright flashing lights can start to get to ya.. [sly] makes me feel like i'm in the 80's again [angelic]..

My grey matter is notorious for taking a few hours to get going in the AM, but what is your new "Slush inhaler" for? Is it a replacement for the scoop? It looks like a device used to give medications to unwilling cows and horses.

As for the general question, I too am ready for the hard deck. I would love to float Strawberry one more time, weather and work permitting, but I don't know it will happen. Bring on the cold temps!

[Image: widetab.gif] [Image: black-spacer.gif] No more scooping. Just slip the Slush Inhaler into your augered ice hole, pull the handle and lift it out. Slush and chopped ice are trapped in the cylinder, which can be emptied with a push of the handle. Choose from 8" and 10" diameter.

[/size][#4040ff][size 2]Cabela's offered it at a discount to Club Members and I couldn't resist. I like to drill lots of holes with my power auger and then move from hole to hole during the day. It can be a pain (plus precious ice-fishing time is wasted) scooping out all of those holes with a regular ice scoop -- one scoop at a time. I'm hoping that this baby will do the job in one, or at the most two quick lifts.[/size][/#4040ff]

[cool]I'm glad you think that way (that there's no safe ice until after Christmas), and I hope that many other of the new members, and that the thousands of "guests" that frequent this site feel the exact same way. As for me, I'll be ice fishing by Thanksgiving (like most years) at the VERY LATEST.

That's right...note to new members/lurkers "guests" THERE IS NO SAFE ICE FISHING UNTIL CHRISTMAS OR NEW YEARS AT THE EARLIEST!![Wink][Wink]

C'mon ice, hurry the heck up already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[cool]Thanks for the update, fuzzy. So will you be in the area to partake of the ice at Hunington in a couple weeks, or will you be stuck in Minnesota then? Can't wait for the hard deck. Bass Ackward and I are going over to Fish Tech today at lunch to check out their ice gear (they've got some of it out on their shelves already)...

[cool]Majja,

If you are interested in learning more about ice fishing, you came to the right site. We have an EXCELLENT search feature on this site, and if you want to see what it was like last ice season, there are hundreds of reports just from right here in Utah alone in the archives. Just go up to the search icon, and type in the name of your favorite lake, and use the word ice or ice fishing report in there, and you'll see lots of reports. Also, I think if you click on the "Utah fishing" link up above, there are many other boards within the "Utah fishing" board. You should be able to click on the "Ice Fishing God Ice Challenge" or something to that effect and look at some of the nice fish landed from last season. Good luck on your research. This site is awesome, so read on!
