I hate to hear this, Dave was an amazingly nice guy. I am in shock. I think us as the BFT community needs to put some money up for a floral arrangement for the funeral at least. I feel that Petty was definitely closest to him, so if inclined contact him for this idea if he is up for it.

That is terrible news to hear. Dave is a great man and always will be in my mind. It really gets you thinking "do I appreciate my loved ones enough and show it" because in a blink of an eye it could be gone. Dave was all about his son and spending time with him, a true role model of a father.

My prayers to Daves family and dear friends. You will be missed my friend.

WOW ... News like that just leaves me speechless. I only fished with him once and he was great company.

My sympathy certainly goes out to his family and especially his son.

[pirate]That really sucks. I had no idea he was even sick, or whatnot. What did he have, cancer or something? I'm pretty sure I met him on one or more occassions. Petty, wasn't he at that icefishing derby that James at Hooked Fishing tackle put on at Lost Creek a few years back? Then we had an ice fishing party at Rockport off the boatramp about 3 years ago too, and I think I probably met him there as well. This is really Sad...

Thanks for all your support.
He was loading the boat back on the trailer after fishing with his son at east canyon. Austin looked in the mirror and he was having trouble breathing. He ran into the water to help and realised he needed help. The motor was still running and all the way down but he drove to the snack shop and asked some workers for help. They tried cpr to no avail. Thank you guys whoever you are for trying to save his life.
If anyone is interested, the boat motor is probably ruined or in need of some desperate work. I took a collection at work today and it is going to be over $300. I will ask austin and his mom what they want to do with it. If all arrangements are taken care of i will ask that the money go to repairing the boat so austin can keep fishing.
He will be truly missed by myself, my family, and many others who knew him.
Please, if anyone can help out or donate some money, please let Jason know. Thanks.

The viewing will be held monday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The burrial will be held at 1:30 at the roy cemetary. I can get the address if anyone needs it.

[cool][#0000ff]I met (and fished with) Dave a couple of times. He left good memories in my database. It always twangs you when someone you know goes "too soon". Makes you swallow a couple of times and wonder..."How long have I got?" Especially for us "young" guys that read the obituaries every day just to be sure we aren't in there.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I apologize for injecting lightness into a Sad situation. But, we all need to accept it, deal with reality, and move on as best we can. Dave probably wouldn't have wanted so much fuss made over him. I know I won't want it. Obviously it will take more time for his family and close friends to work through it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I once overheard a guy talking, who had recovered from a severe heart attack. He was telling a friend that at the moment of realization...that he was probably dying...he remembered thinking "Damn...there are so many things I still wanted to do.". He was happy that he had the chance to do some of them and it completely changed his way of doing things.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]When I go, I want to be able to face it like the character played by Robert Duvall in "Lonesome Dove". I think he said something like "We had a hell of a party, didn't we?"[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Thanks for letting us know, Brody. Hope you are dealing with it okay, and also hope the family is getting through it too.[/#0000ff]

I've had better days. I will pull through it, just mite take some kleenexes. The great salt lake is going to rise on monday though.[unsure] Let's all dedicate our next catch to him. He was a helluva guy and even though he didn't post much in the last year, he was definately involved in BFT. He is fishing in a better place than we can comprehend now. One day i hope to join him on the shores. Farewell buddy. I will never forget you.

I've never fished with Dave but I have ran into him a few times on the boat ramp and out on the water, he would go out of his way just to chat for a few minutes and exchange information. The few times I had the pleasure to meet Dave he treated me like I was a close friend. I will always remember the big Smile on his face when he was on the water.

I will send a donation to P4L.

Lots of fun fishing with Petty, TKB and yper up at Causey several years ago. So Sad to hear he's gone - great, great guy. It looks like he went doing what he loved to do.
They, the American Heart Assn., say that there is a >70% chance that if you need to do CPR on someone, it will be someone you know, especially family.
I'll be out of town next week but I'll put in an extra $5 in his name to the Ice Fishing pot.

I thank everyone on Big Fish Tackle for every thing. My dad was a great great part of my life he was my fishing buddy. It is really hard for me to type out this message, but i will try my best.

If any one has ever met my dad they know that he was a really great guy. He loved to fish. And just a couple days ago he was telling me and my mom that if the time comes and witch it will he said that he wanted to go really quick and perfrably while he was fishing. And he really hit that nail on the head.

Like Brody said funeral services will be Monday Nov,6 2006 @ 11:30-1:00 Then to the cemetery at 1:30.

Again I really thank all of his great friends from Big Fish Tackle and any of his other friends.

Thanks Austin Drake

I met you once when you were fishing with your dad. I had the pleasure of fishing with him a few times, I also had him haul some rocks for me several years ago. Your dad is a great guy, my condolences to you and your family.
