3 or 4 years old and in 86 feet of water. Just goes to show that if they do float to the top they don't float forever.

[cool]Yeah, that's pretty crazy. You'd have to wonder what the crawdads would do to a body over 3-4 years too. I would think that there wouldn't be too much left of that body after that... I always thought that bodies after about a week or so get tons of bacteria in the stomache and float back up to the surface for a while (which is why when people want to "get rid the body" they tie cinderblocks to the body or puncture the abdomen a ton of times so the stomache doesn't bloat all up), but maybe I'm wrong on that theory (that the body floats back up to the surface). Crazy stuff, man. The article said that there's like 3 or 4 bodies from previous accidents that haven't been recovered there too, so I guess there's more. I'd sure hate to be a diver just diving along leisurely and run into a way decomposed body/skeleton down there. Talk about creepy!! I don't have the stomache for that stuff, which really makes me respect and admire the search and rescue people and E.M.T.'s, etc.

what is suprizing to me is that with as much traffic as there is on strawberry with fishfinders and other sonar as well as cameras and such, not to mention all the trolling and downriggers I cant believe that someone hasn't stumbled acrossed an unrecovered body.

I agree, that has been in the back of my head also about Bear Lake. I know of 7 people that have drowned in the last 20 years and they never recovered the body. I was told that the bodies stayed down on Bear Lake because of the cold water temp at the bottom but who knows. It would be wierd to hook one with a down rigger and bring it up. Probably ruin a good days fishing.[crazy]

FINDING A BODY WHILE FISHING IS NO FUN. IVE LIVED IT UP ON THE WEBER RIVER. THE GUY I FOUND ROLLED HIS CAR INTO THE RIVER AND BROKE HIS NECK. BIG WIDE OPEN EYES ARE HARD TO FOGETT.

[shocked] Imagine going to the Berry this winter, Droping your Aqua View down and turning it on to see a face looking right at you. Yes in deed, I would probably need a good shot of Whiskey to restart my heart. Pretty but could easily happen

Just like the elk a few weeks ago. Anything could happen.

[#505000]Heh, you get used to dead bodies if you work with them long enough. [cool] (except the smell, ick!!)[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000] [#505000]I don't do much in the realm of search and rescue, but I sometimes have lunch with those who do, and we have interesting discussions about this very topic. I don't know about the temps in the Berry, and how those would affect the search, but I know in Utah Lake they can figure out when they will find a body based on water temps. They can tell you when the body will float to the surface and they then recover it, if the divers haven't found it first.[/#505000] [#505000][/#505000] [#505000]Again with as cold as the Berry is this time of year I don't know if the decomposition would be fast enough, or warm enough to cause a "floater". [/#505000] [#505000][/#505000] [#505000]Either way I would be nice for the familes involved to have a bit of closure. I would imagine O4T that the crawdads would pick a corpse pretty clean given enough time. [/#505000] [#505000][/#505000] [#505000]I've also wondered (very much doubt it though) if the two missing from the boat accident made it out of the lake, but in such a bad state of hypothermia they wandered off into the woods (sage brush) somewhere before succumbing to exposure. [/#505000] [#505000][/#505000] [#505000]I suppose time will tell. Either way my heart goes out the the familes of the missing.[/#505000] [signature]

[cool][#0000ff]There was an article in this morning's Tribune saying that authorities believe they have an ID on the body they found, but will not release any names until they have a positive. They estimate the remains are several years old.[/#0000ff]

My oldest son, Nathan, is the commander of the Box Elder Sheriff Search and Rescue possee, and the other son, Joseph, is a mortician in Logan. There have been several times when Nathan has recovered a body and Joseph did the embalming on him.
Last year I drove to St. George with Joseph in the funeral home van to pick up a lady who died there and bring her body back to Tremonton for the funeral. When he put the cot into the van he forgot to put the wood block in front of the cot. We later pulled up to a stop sign and hit the brakes rather hard to get stopped. The cot with the covered body rolled forward and thumped between our seats. Joe looked down and nonchalantly said "Well, Hello Mrs. Hansen." That freaked me out and I about lost my composure. I hope they can find the bodies soon also. Acey [signature]

Any way to know if there are missing bodies in Deer Creek? A year and half ago, I was trolling with bottom bouncer and crawler harness when I got stuck on something... I wriggled my line loose and I reeled up something very heavy, and was shocked and scared of a big bone that looked very much like a human pelvis. I was so freaked that I shook the line loose, and watch it sink down... I felt guilty for not saying anything now the reports of bodsies are coming up at Strawberry, so I guess this would be a good as any other time to bring to a closure...
